The Process

I want to start off by saying, I do not believe in dieting. Yes, you read this correctly and it may sound shocking based on all the past “good advice” you’ve been given.

If you’ve already tried losing weight and getting healthier, you’ve likely counted calories and/or points, ate a LOT less food, chose only low-fat options, cut out all carbs, tried all sorts of meal-replacements and beat yourself up at the gym for hours trying to burn off as many calories as possible. A. Initially worked but then you gained back all the weight (maybe even plus some) when you stopped following your extremely restrictive diet and exercise plan. Let’s be serious, who can sustain that for life?

B. Created no weight loss and the weight may have even gone up more

C. Lead you to only follow the new plan for a few days before falling off the bandwagon because you didn’t have enough “self control”

So, all this effort and you’re hungry, tired, frustrated and see no change in weight. Why aren’t your efforts paying off?

  • Your metabolism has hit rock bottom from the extremely low amount of caloric intake
  • Since your body feels starved, fat stores are likely saved and muscle sacrificed to prevent “starvation”

  • High levels of stress and/or insufficient amount of sleep
  • You have chosen the wrong workouts for your genetics
  • From low calorie and/or fat intake you are experiencing nutrient inefficiencies which can lead to weight loss resistance or weight gain.

Because, everybody is unique and requires individualized nutrient intake and exercise. There is no catch-all diet or workout program that works for the entire population. It is NOT about calories in vs calories out, but the unique biochemical relationship of food with each individual body. If it were as simple as calories in/calories out and eliminating entire food groups, we wouldn’t be experiencing a nationwide struggle with weight.

How can wellness coaching and nutrition counseling help you? Time is taken to expertly discover the best nutrition and exercise for you. No generalized diets are foisted upon you, instead you work one-on-one with your coach to develop a specialized lifestyle plan (NOT A DIET) that will result in a fit, healthy, happy and energized YOU. Our initial session will be an hour in length. I require that each individual completes a health history questionnaire and a 3 day food diary prior to our visit. All follow-up sessions will be 45 minutes.

We do not have to meet in person, we can have our session via phone or Skype/Facetime so you can be wherever you’d like. Otherwise we will meet in the office or a more relaxed venue like a coffee shop.

To meet your goals, I recommend a minimum of 3 sessions. Support, accountability and consistency are all important aspects of making a change in lifestyle.

Note: All information shared via phone, email and in-person fall under private health information (PHI) and we are HIPAA compliant, meaning that all information you share is 100% confidential.

Frequently Asked Questions:

How many sessions should I have to be successful and how often should I meet with my coach?

The most successful and lasting results are seen with programs consisting of at least 12 sessions over a 6-month period (meeting with your coach every other week).  We can do more, or less, depending on your needs.

What will I receive when I sign up for wellness coaching?

  • One-on-one sessions with your wellness coach
  • Email access outside of sessions
  • Access to the Healthie portal where you can track your food, exercise, weight and even your mood as well as interacting with your coach.
  • A customized plan to call your own
  • Finally reaching your goals!

Can I do virtual/distance coaching sessions?

Yes! The Nutrition Connection has secure, HIPAA-compliant video-conferencing options so that you can meet with your coach within the comfort of your own home. Or we can conduct sessions via phone from any location.

How long is each session?

Sessions typically last 45 minutes after an initial hour-long session. The extended initial session gives us time to get to know each other, discuss your health history, and develop some initial goals

What are my payment options?

You have the option to pay up front and receive a discount, or pay monthly.

Do you take insurance?

I do not currently take insurance, but will be happy to  issue you a Super Bill to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

Can my spouse and I do the program together?

Yes! You can share sessions with your spouse, each of you gets your own individualized plan and one of you gets 50% off!
